Release trauma & stress, restore balance to your body
About Breathwork & Yin Yoga for Healing
“Breath is the bridge which connects life to consciousness, which unites your body to your thoughts.”
—Thich Nhat Hanh
I’m Laura, a Certified Breathwork Facilitator and Certified Yoga Instructor, on my own path of healing emotional trauma. For me, emotional expression has always begun in the body—with my background in dance, movement, acting, breathwork and yoga, I grew up telling stories and communicating and connecting through physicality. I believe we carry the stories of our lives in our bodies, and that daily life can distract us from maintaining a healthy connection to ourselves. We may all have stored trauma and stress which can lead to anxiety and other health conditions. Both breathwork and yin yoga can nurture transformation, release negative emotions, and support profound healing. I look forward to working together to support wherever you are in your healing process.
Offerings:
Breathwork—Breathwork is defined as “conscious, controlled breathing done especially for relaxation, meditation, or therapeutic purposes.” This term encompasses myriad techniques that support connection to breath. I will guide you in an active three part breath technique, which provides quick access to very deep dimensions of the body, mind, and spirit, to support healing, process emotions, and promote insight.
Our modern lifestyles challenge our ability to maintain connection to our breath, and over a lifetime of stress and trauma held in the body our nervous systems are significantly impacted. This breathwork is a body based form of experiential therapy which stimulates the vagus nerve and regulates the nervous system, allowing the body to “rest and digest.” Over time this practice promotes parasympathetic dominance, enabling the body to counter cortisol levels and release stress and trauma from the cells.
Ritual Yin Yoga—In yin yoga sessions, we will target areas of the body where trauma may be stored, enabling individuals to gradually release physical tension and emotional residue. Over time, this practice can support restoration of a sense of safety, trust in our bodies, and a greater capacity to process and release trauma, making it an invaluable tool in the journey towards healing and resilience. Hot stones and aromatherapy incorporated. (Coming soon)
